Reading List

In addition to other assignments, English students at RCCS are required to read two books each quarter. These books must be chosen from the official list posted in the library and on the RCCS website.

Students must choose previously unread books from either the literature list or the world view list. Students in lower grades should check with a teacher or parent before beginning a book that might be too demanding.

The books on the literature list were selected for their importance in the “great conversation” of our civilization. Since these are works that have deeply affected our world, familiarity with at least a good portion of them is essential to a solid, general education. Be aware, however, that some were written from a non-Christian perspective and contain assumptions, philosophies, themes, or language that conflict with biblical Christianity.
